THE BOTTOM LINE

Fujitsu’s ScanSnap iX1300 is a snappy, accurate portable document scanner that’s excellent for digitizing documents on the road or wherever space is limited.

MSRP $289.99

PROS
    • Fast for a portable scanner
    • Accurate OCR
    • Supports both wireless and USB 3.2 connections
    • Robust ScanSnap software bundle
    • Innovative U-turn Scan and Return Scan save desk space
CONS
    • No battery for untethered operation

Fujitsu’s ScanSnap iX1300 ($289.99) is a portable, sheet-fed document scanner similar in features and functionality to the Editors’ Choice award-winning Epson WorkForce ES-300W. Like the Epson, the ScanSnap iX1300 has a 20-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) for sending pages to the scanner’s sensors. Like its siblings (including the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1400 and ScanSnap S1300i) and many competing models, the iX1300 delivers accurate optical character recognition (OCR) that’s somewhat faster than the ES-300W’s. This Fujitsu model, however, lacks one feature of our current favorite multi-sheet portable: a battery, which would let the scanner operate in your car or another place without an AC outlet. Otherwise, the ScanSnap iX1300 is a highly capable portable scanner for remote offices, hotel rooms, or your small or home office.
