THE BOTTOM LINE
For all it does, Fujitsu’s ScanSnap S1300i is surprisingly compact, and it packs a useful interface and document-management software. If you can stomach the price, it’s ideal for moderate document scanning on the road.

Fujitsu’s ScanSnap S1300i ($295) is a portable document scanner designed primarily to digitize documents on the road. A direct competitor to our Editors’ Choice, the Epson WorkForce ES-300W reviewed here back in April 2017, the S1300i is fast for its size, and accurate. Plus, it comes with Fujitsu’s robust, easy-to-use ScanSnap scanning interface and document management software. But the ES-300W has held its position as our top pick among portable document scanners for more than three years—a testament to its stellar design, performance, and feature set. That’s not to say that the Fujitsu isn’t a fine little device, just to say that in terms of capacity and performance, the Epson edges it as our favorite multi-sheet-feed portable document scanner.
