William Harrel – Writer, Journalist

I have been writing about computer technology for about 30 years. I have authored or coauthored 20 books—including titles in the popular “Bible,” “Secrets,” and “For Dummies” series—on digital design (or desktop publishing) software applications, such as Acrobat, Photoshop, and QuarkXPress.

My latest title is HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Mobile Development for Dummies (a handbook for creating websites for smartphones and tablets), and I currently write for PCMag and Digital Trends. I am also a Contributing Editor at PCMag.com’s sister site, Computer Shopper.

I’ve written hundreds of articles for online magazines (and hard copy publications prior to the emergence  the Internet). In addition to the publications listed above, over the years I’ve also written for several other computer and business publications, including PC World, Compute!, MacUser, Home Office Computing, Entrepreneur, theWirecutter.com, and (the once quite popular) Windows Magazine, and I served as the Printers and Scanners Expert at About.com (now LifeWire.com).
